uBlock Origin Lite is a Manifest V3 content blocker for Chrome, Edge, and Safari built by Raymond Hill, the author of uBlock Origin. It works declaratively with no persistent background process and at its Basic mode requires no broad “read and change site data” permissions. Default filter lists include EasyList, EasyPrivacy, and uBlock Origin built-in lists.

Our take
The permission model is the main story here: at Basic mode it blocks ads and trackers without asking for access to every site you visit, which is a meaningful security improvement over classic extensions. It is the recommended content blocker for Safari on iOS, where no other strong option exists. The honest catch is MV3 imposes hard limits on rule counts and blocks dynamic filtering, so it cannot match full uBlock Origin’s depth. The right pick for Chrome and Safari users who cannot run the original, or anyone who wants lighter browser permissions.
