The major advantage of NextDNS over AdGuard DNS is to be able to configure the service to your needs via parental controls, website restrictions or block whole categories of websites and apps. Easy to setup within minutes. Comes with setup guides for all systems. 300,000 queries/month for free, after that it will just work like a classic non-blocking DNS service.

Supports: DNS-over-TLS (DoT), DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) and DNSCrypt. Based in United States.

Our take

A genuinely strong network-level blocker, and its edge over plain DNS filters is the control: per-device profiles, parental controls, category blocking, and logs you can tune, all without installing anything on each device. The honest note is that it’s a cloud service, so you’re trusting NextDNS with your queries, and the free tier has a monthly query cap before you pay. For most people who want set-and-forget blocking across a whole household, that trade is reasonable. Those who want zero third-party involvement should self-host Pi-hole instead.
