Cryptomator encrypts your data quickly and easily. Afterwards you upload them protected to a cloud service.
If your files live in Dropbox, Google Drive, or iCloud and you want them encrypted before they sync, this is the cleanest answer, with transparent per-file encryption and apps on every platform. The honest limit is that filename and folder-structure protection has edges, and mobile access on the paid apps is its own consideration. Ideal for adding zero-knowledge to a cloud you already use; not a replacement for whole-disk encryption.

Why it matters: Strong copyleft keeps every distributed version open. A vendor cannot fold this into a closed product and ship it without releasing their changes.
